Current events, read through the Qur'an rather than around it.

There is a kind of writing the present moment requires that does not fit inside a Map or a verse-by-verse study. A particular event happens — in the world, in the Ummah, in the discourse — and a verse comes to mind, or a verse refuses to leave. That is the reflection.

These are shorter pieces than the Maps and the surah studies. They are more occasional. They start with a question the moment is asking and end inside a verse the Qur'an has already answered. The point is not to make the Qur'an comment on current events. The point is to remember that current events are exactly what the Qur'an was already speaking about.

This category will populate as the work emerges. There is no schedule. A reflection is written when one is ready to be written.
